New Year Services; Fri, Sat and Sun 1/2/3rd January 2010

The railway will be closed over the Christmas holiday period but will re-open for the New Year Bank Holiday weekend including Friday 1st January 2010.

On Friday 1st January trains will leave Hythe at 11.30, 12.30, 1.30, for a return journey to Dungeness and an additional non-stop services will run at 1.05 and 3.05 from Hythe to New Romney and at 2.05 from New Romney to Hythe. The highlight of the day will be a non-stop steam-hauled run from New Romney departing at 11.30 to Hythe via Dungeness. (see Diary of Events page for full timetable)

On Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd January trains will leave Hythe at 10.30, 11.30, 12.30, 1.30 for a return trip to Hythe and Dungeness at 11.00, 12.00 and 1.00 for a return trip to Hythe.

Our cafes will be open at New Romney and Dungeness all three days with a full meal service.

Our Model Railway Exhibition at New Romney will also be open each of these days that the railway is open.

Winter Opening including catering

From Monday 2nd November the railway goes into its intensive period of maintenance work and as a result the only train services are the daily Marsh Academy Student Service (departing New Romney at 15.15 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 16.45 on Tuesdays) Space for paying customers is available and the diesel hauled trip to Hythe and back takes 1hr 15 minutes.

Our cafes and the Model Railway Exhibition at New Romney are now closed at weekends other than for pre-booked Santa services (please call 01797 362353)

They will reopen for all January weekends including Friday 1st January (New Years Day).

New Year 2010 Driver Experience dates on sale now

Our very popular Driver Experience Days are now on sale for the early months of 2010 Predominantly on the Dungeness section because of track relaying the Driver Experience Days with space available are listed below. Our courses are very hands on and include at least 17 miles at the regulator, lunch and initial briefing and certifcate.

Each day costs £250.00 payable on booking and it is possible to accommodate groups of three who wish to do these together on most of these dates at the moment. However bookings are coming in fast as people plan ahead for their special birthday and Christmas presents.

Those who have already undertaken the basic course can join an Advanced Course for £375.00 sharing only with one other person.

If you have your heart set firmly on the Hythe section then please give us a call as we may be able to alter certain dates to assist.

All final bookings must be accompanied by full payment to guarantee your space. We do accept debit and credit card payments.
